Its function was a simple one-it converted raw magic from the Weave and sent that power throughout an enclave to provide the magical energies required for the continued operation of quasimagical items. The act of casting this spell resembles more along the lines of Item creation rather then actual spellcasting. The origin of this creation process is still up to speculated to this very day. It is unknown how Ioulaum originally created his Mythallar some believe that Mystryl sent the visions of its design down to him as he slept one dark night while others believe that Ioulaum managed to attain a level of divinity and that his divine power allowed him to create this item. To Develop: 423,000gp 9 days 16,920xp Seeds: Mythal (DC 25) Factors: Major Prevolent Power: Items created under Mythal's effects have no XP cost, but function only within its bounds (50,000gp) (+50 DC), Increase area by 5,180% (+207 DC) Mitigating Factors: Capstone (-20 DC), +10 minute casting time (-20 DC), +100 day casting time (-200 DC) I have been working on creating a spell for creating a Mythallar using these spells, however I cannot seem to find a spell that would resemble the sheer power of a Mythallar eventually falling back on this design (using the standard rules):Ĭode: Select all Ioulaum's Imbue MythallarĬasting Time: 100 days, 20 minutes (8/day) It is a request and not a requirement to do this, meaning you CAN use the standard approach for creation of your spell, but please do note that when you post a spell. Having said that I'd like for spells using that formula be compiled into this compendium. Needless to say, I do have a minute problem with them using the Netherese Arcanist formula for Epic Spell creation (7,000gp instead of 9,000gp). It is how I run my 3.5 Realm games post-Spellplague and it is how I believe 10+ spells should function. I believe that the FeanMerc variant is how Epic Spellcasting really should have been had they nixed the Mystra's Ban thing. Now that I have let that out, I will now confess to something that I believe truly captures the creation process of Epic Spellcraft, the style of casting, the power and most importantly, how Spell production and spellcasting was prior to Mystra's Ban on 10th+ spells. Spells as such should never be created, should never have been created and should never be casted. Personally, I believe that Epic spellcasting stops being too powerful once you factor in the finite resource of "Time", however this finite resource is completely removed once you get Practitioners performing grand rituals and willing to sacrifice so much in just the effort to create a single spell which required no time and could, in essence, destroy the entire world without much effort. Epic Spellcraft is an art, not very well practiced in many circles due to how it looks in terms of power. Long ago, there existed a special thread on the old WoTC forum, which was destroyed WAY before I even had a chance to look at it (which makes me very sad, because I hear there was some really good ones) so I aim to actually capture that same image.
